Lockdown
(insert the Law and Order CLANK here)
Lately I’ve read some excellent opinion pieces about privacy (or the utter lack thereof) and blogging. It gives me knots in my stomach. I don’t want to be paranoid, but I do value my children’s safety and privacy.
We have family and friends far away, and I like that they can see what’s going on with us, and see the kids. But ultimately, this is OUR virtual scrapbook. I hope when they are older, the kids will enjoy browsing through it- I know I already do, just as I always loved flipping through our old photo albums until I couldn’t tell what was real memory versus what was imprinted on my brain by the images burned into Kodachrome.
I haven’t made the decision lightly. I know that we’ll lose readers in the process, and I’m sorry for that. I enjoy the benefit of reading other family blogs, and don’t like running into walls either. I have toyed with the idea of working out a separate, "public" blog, and maybe I’ll get around to it someday. But really, nothing I have put here is terribly profound, and the Blogosphere certainly won’t register our disappearance from relative to complete obscurity.
For readers arriving and wondering where we went, we are here, on the other side of the wall. Our kids are cuter and more amazing than ever. You’re missing out! Please register.
I hope we catch you on the flip side.
